Certified by the National Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) is the national standard for measuring a home’s energy efficiency. The U.S. Department of Energy notes that a typical resale home scores around 130 and a standard new home scores 100 – lower is better. Heritage Homes averages a HERS score of 54, making our homes about 46% more efficient than traditional construction. You’ll receive a High-Performance Home Energy Rating Certificate summarizing estimated annual energy use and costs.
Building a home that surpasses the energy efficiency of a typical home by 50-60% is no mystery. By constructing indoors, in a controlled environment, and engineering energy efficient features into each home, we are able to achieve these high standards.
National Green Home of the Year
Heritage Homes of Nebraska received the 2019 National Green Home of the Year Award for Best Off-Site Construction from Green Builder Magazine. The judges noted the project was “super-efficient and a great use of resources.” In addition to this award, the project achieved LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
“To achieve LEED certification, a project earns points by adhering to prerequisites and credits that address carbon, energy, water, waste, transportation, materials, health and indoor environmental quality. Projects go through a verification and review process by GBCI and are awarded points that correspond to a level of LEED certification: Certified (40-49 points), Silver (50-59 points), Gold (60-79 points) and Platinum (80+ points).”
